STUDY POLITICS AND INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS THE UK WAY IN GHANA
This degree explores connections between political practice and theory
and the state and society, using examples drawn from the most topical
issues of global and local concern. In your first year, our Politics and
Governance in the Contemporary World course will introduce you to the
core themes, concepts and events of Politics and International
Relations. You will also be able to follow your own interests, choosing
courses from two other departments.

Admission to the Foundation programme will be based on:
West African Curriculum:
- Grade C minimum in the best 5 subjects of the WASSCE with a minimum of C4 in Math and C4 in English
- English Proficiency Test results (either IELTS, PTE) for those who score below C4 for English
British System:
- Successful completion of ‘AS’ Level with five credits at ‘O’ Level
(IGCSE/GCSE/Olevels- minimum of grade C in Maths and
English)
International Baccalaureate:
- Successful completion of IB year 1 with five credits at ‘O’ Level
(IGCSE/GCSE/Olevels- minimum of grade C in Maths and
English)
French curriculum:
- Successful completion of French IB year 1
- English Proficiency Test results (either IELTS,PTE/Pearson) compulsory
English requirements:
- Overall IELTS score of 5.5 (each component should be a minimum of
5.0) or PTE/Pearson score of 59 (each component should be a minimum
of 47)
Age:
- Minimum of 17years
Undergraduate requirements
Admission to the first year of each undergraduate degree programme will be based on either:
A levels:
- Three GCE Advanced Levels (Grade C or above) with five credits at
‘O’ Level (IGCSE/GCSE/Olevels-minimum of
grade C in Maths and English)
IB English:
- Overall score of 27 points with 16 points from the best three HL
subjects in the International Baccalaureate with five credits
at ‘O’ Level (IGCSE/GCSE/Olevels-minimum of grade C in Maths and
English)
International Foundation:
- Students achieving a pass (50% or above) in the Foundation Year at
the Lancaster University site in Accra or equivalent standard in
another Foundation Programme approved by Lancaster University
IB French System :
- Overall marks of 9 in the total average score (with a 6.5 IELTS score with a min of 5.5 score in each component)
Option International Baccalaureate (OIB) :
- Overall marks of 8.5 in the total average score. (with a 6.5 IELTS score and a min of 5.5 score in each component)
Age:
- Minimum of 18 years

Our academic year consists of three trimesters. Commencing October
2017, you can expect the following tuition fees per annum (unless stated

Students
are taught by a combination of international, local and Lancaster
University lecturers. Faculty from Lancaster University UK deliver the
post graduate programme modules and provide guest lectures and/or
co-teach undergraduate programmes with Accra based academics. Graduates
will also receive the same degree certificate that they would have
received had they studied in the UK and the transcript will indicate the
location of study of each module. Our undergraduate faculty offer high
quality teaching and bring a world of experience to the programme. Our

LUG
students have a unique advantage when it comes to exchange programmes.
Currently there are three annual trips at Lancaster University Ghana of
which any of our students can take advantage of.
In
March 2014 & 2015, Lancaster University's Faculty of Arts and
Sciences (FASS) visited Ghana with a delegation of students for ten
days. This was followed by an outbound trip for LUG students and staff
to the UK for three weeks as part of the annual Lancaster Student’s
Union (LUSU) International Cultural Exchange Programme. In September,
LUSU sends a delegation of students from the UK Ghana for three weeks.
Our students have the opportunity to volunteer as student ambassadors
for these trips.
A
new pilot programme to Dubai was launched in 2015 purely on student
initiative. The TNE Global Exchange Programme which was in partnership
with Murdoch University Dubai.
Summer
2016, LUG launched its Global Health Summer Programme where around 20
students who study an undergraduate level course in health and
infectious diseases worked on public health projects with relevant
organisations in Ghana. The annual study abroad program was co-delivered
by staff from Boston University and Lancaster University while students
at Lancaster University Ghana acted as chaperones and engage visiting
students on extra-curricular activities

our institution. We value fitness and physical well-being since we

and several other facilities within about 100m from our campus, which

Our
Student Affairs Office often hosts fun intra university social events

8. We assist, tutor, and prepare you for the future!
Our
Foundation Programme is designed as a unique preparatory course that
will introduce high school, A-Level, and IGCSE students to the rigours
of British undergraduate syllabus. Students from the West African
Examination Council will need to complete the Foundation Programme prior
to commencing their undergraduate studies. It is strongly recommended
that students who do not currently meet the entry requirements for
undergraduate studies enter this programme first.
Smaller
